It's Halloween Let's Run! Boo?

"monsters on the run.,come to our Halloween Run just for fun!"
CLEOPATRA in the person of running beauty Michelle Estuar,
will they "SCREAM" if they found out who's behind them?
aaaaah....

"When witches go RUNNING,and black masks are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, it is Halloween."
Running is hard enough what more if you are wearing a complicated costume? Not for runners though.  Give them the chance to run in any given day (or night) much more on Halloween and they will run with much gusto!

I fancied joining a Halloween costume run this year but my body condition "killjoyly" scratched the plan.  I'm on a run /train break (cough aaaw).  So as not to miss the excitement I went "ghost hunting" and found a bunch of monsters, beauties and cuties doing a spook-tacular costume run in this perfect place/store not so haunted  called A Runner's Circle.

Where in the world could you find "Cleopatra" in her running shoes instead of Egyptian sandals, traversing the stretch of Manila bay with all her beauty and speed, more so running along with an Egyptian hunk?  Following in tow are the scary "manananggal", pussycat, bumble bee, frankenstein, witches, monsters, fairies, ghouls and of course the all time favorite "scream!!!".  The motorists found such glee at the sight of this bunch of "spooky" runners.  I'm just glad to share you some of the photos guys :)

"monsters and scary faces, Halloween is the time to misbehave"

the MANANANGGAL - who brought the house down

Thanks to A Runner's Circle for making running more enjoyable in any given day.  Check out their free fun run, running clinic and store items from here. Happy Halloween!

RIP Steve Jobs

iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac, iTunes.... iDie.
The world is so saddened by the demised of Steve Jobs,  co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc., also a co-founder and previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; and ....

Well no need for further elaboration on Steve Job's achievements.  Who doesn't know Steve Jobs anyway?  In fact his works are so important that during his resignation from Apple, Inc. on August 2011 due to his illness that eventually caused his death, a Tokyo-based runner Joseph Tame went on extra mile to pay tribute to Steve Jobs priceless contribution to the world of Technology.

Joseph ran 13 miles in 2 hours, in the shape of the Apple logo, to express his admiration for Steve Jobs and his company Apple.  He used ‘iRun’ – (his own creation) a portable social media studio to track his complete path. iRun includes four iPhones, an iPad, an iPod, an Android handset, three pocket wifi units and a bird-feeding dish to connect to multiple mobile phone networks. In addition to live streaming video, the device has built-in support for Twitter, Runkeeper (live GPS tracking and heart-rate info), FaceTime, Skype, and a mini-weather station that collects data on temperature, CO2, noise and humidity levels.  See video here.

According to New Launches Tame completed this two hour tribute (with an average heart rate of 155 beats per minute). He said, because "having a iPhone really has changed my life here in Tokyo. Here in Japan it's like a lifeline (even more so now it can warn me when an earthquake is about to hit)."

That explains that very special tribute!

Gnomes in the City

last day & no more slot for men? oh no!
@Nike Park Bonifacio High Street
I got lucky catching the last day of registration for the Nike We Run Manila 10K 2011 at Nike Park Bonifacio High Street.  But not my hubby though.  The men's category closed a day earlier than the women's category, about six days earlier than the published registration period.  Good thing I found another female who's looking for a "buddy" so we adopted each other as buddy and we both saved some cash in the registration fee.
After excitedly looking at the pictures of  the race kit items which includes a Nike Dri-fit Tee, Nike Water Bottle and the specially-designed USB Flash Drive for finishers, I studied the race map and laughed at myself.
"IT’S YOUR CITY. RUN IT."
goes the tag line of Nike We Run Manila
NIKE We Run Manila 10K 2011 – Is a 10k night run that will happen on October 15 and will take the runners traversing the heart of the city’s rising business and lifestyle district – Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The race is part of the Nike We Run City 10k races happening in multiple cities such as Seoul (South Korea), Monterrey (Mexico) and Santiago (Chile) that promises a unique run experience combining running and music.
Funny I got lost in this "city" twice.  They were on two separate incidents and with two different friends on the wheel. The first time was when we are on our way to attend a necrological service in Santuario De San Antonio Parish.  We overshoot from EDSA and ended up in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).  After several rounds we can't find our way back to McKinley Road. My friend who's driving was so embarrass that we're so lost .  We reached just in time the service is just about to start and my cell phone is clogged with "wer na u?" (where are you now?) messages from other friends who's already in Santuario.

The second time was when we visited a friend confined at St. Lukes Medical Center Global City.  My friend is driving me home and made one wrong turn and we're lost.  And same thing happened, we were so lost for several rounds before we found the right route to our destination.

In both incidents, we were joking that one of us should undress and reverse our clothes to be able to find the right way.  That, of course is based on a Filipino folklore that when you repeatedly get lost on a certain place, there are "gnomes" (nuno sa punso) that live in that place and they are messing your way using their gnome powers. And for you to find your way back is that you need to reverse your clothing. LOL

As I excitedly anticipate exploring this city by running, I have this crazy thoughts that gnomes would be so busy during the race day.  I'm just not sure if their powers can handle eight thousand runners.  Hmn... let us see.  Who knows they might end up running wearing the Nike dri-fit tee. Funny!

"Gnomes in the city?
Will they be messing our route or will they be running wearing a dri-fit Nike Tee?"
